Tree Surgery
The core of what we do: skilled tree surgery on trees of any species and any size, from a small ornamental to a mature giant. Crown reductions to bring a tree back into proportion, thinning to let light and air through, deadwood taken out for safety, and difficult trees dismantled section by section where there's no room to fell. Twenty years of climbing and cutting means it's done cleanly, safely and with the tree's health in mind.
Tree Cutting & Felling
Where a tree has to come out, we take it down properly — straight felling in open ground, or roped and rigged dismantling in tight spaces near buildings, fences and glass. Size is no obstacle: one client had a 60ft-plus fir tree felled, four other trees logged and smaller firs taken out in the same visit — 'most professional, very friendly and engaging, with a tremendous work ethic'. Every section is controlled and the site is left clear.
Tree Pruning
Careful, considered pruning that shapes a tree without stressing it: crown reductions to control size, selective branch removal to lift a canopy or clear a structure, and shaping to keep a tree looking its best. Reviewers describe fruit trees 'cut exactly how I wanted' and a bay tree reduced by 50% precisely to a brief. Cuts are made to the right points so the tree heals well and holds its natural form.
Pollarding
For species and settings that suit it, pollarding is a controlled, periodic hard prune back to a framework — managing a tree's height and spread long-term while encouraging healthy new growth. One client had three large willows pollarded: 'an impeccable job… polite, tidy, reliable and very happy lads. 10/10.' Done at the right time and to the right structure, it keeps a big tree safe, in proportion and sustainable for years.
Hedge Cutting & Hedging
Everything hedge-related, from routine maintenance to a fresh start. Precision cutting and shaping to a crisp line, height reduction on overgrown hedges brought back under control, and full hedge removal where it's time for something new. We also plant and establish new hedging. One long-hedge client wrote of a hedge 'brought back under control… with skill, showing patience for all my requirements' — and asked us back to maintain it regularly.
Stump Grinding
A felled tree leaves a stump that can regrow, trip you up and get in the way. We grind stumps out mechanically to below ground level, so the space can be reclaimed for lawn, planting or paving. The grindings can be left to backfill the hole or cleared away — whichever suits — and the ground raked level once we're done.
Garden & Site Clearance
Whole plots brought back under control: overgrown gardens cleared, brambles and self-set trees taken back, and neglected ground reclaimed. For builders and developers we handle site clearance ahead of construction, and combined tree-and-ground clearance where a plot needs both the trees removing and the ground preparing. Everything is cut, cleared and taken away, leaving the site ready for its next stage.
Forestry & Grounds Maintenance
Beyond the domestic garden: woodland and forestry management, thinning and larger-scale tree work, and ongoing grounds maintenance for estates, paddocks and commercial sites. Whether it's managing a stand of trees, keeping a larger property's grounds in order, or a season of upkeep, the same experienced crew handles it — and the timber from removals is available as seasoned hardwood logs.
